Planning House are delighted to have worked with Homes by Carlton & Believe Housing to secure planning permission for 29 homes on an area of greenfield land to the southwest of the settlement of Witton Gilbert, on the outskirts of Durham City. The land formerly been used as a mix of paddock and agriculture is narrow with level differences across the site.
The application sought full planning permission for the erection of 29 homes, including open space provision to the west and east of the site, as well as small areas interspersed throughout the development. The development will consist of a mix of 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 bed two-storey properties, 26 in total, and 3 bungalows. Seven houses are proposed as affordable units.
The application was recommended for approval by Durham County Council Planning Officers and supported by the Planning Committee, subject to the completion of a s106 agreement securing contributions for affordable housing, open space, North Durham Clinical Commissioning Group, Biodiversity Net Gain and works to trees.
Willon Gilbert Parish Council also supported the scheme confirming that the development of the site is seen as fundamental to encourage further growth and prosperity within the local area. The development would improve the appearance of the unused unkempt piece of land. And the site location is ideal to convey that Witton Gilbert is an attractive and pleasant place to live. We couldn’t agree more with the Parish Council!
