Planning Success – Change of Use to School, Northumberland

Planning permission has been approved for the change of use from C2 use (Residential School) to F1(a) for purely educational purposes on behalf of Young Foundations Ltd.

Young Foundations offers a range of services to children and young people.  Providing healthcare support and social care, which will offer a high-quality resource to meet the identified needs of students.

There is a known regional shortage of specialist provisions in education that can meet the needs of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).   With pupil numbers showing significant growth in recent years. Children are having to be placed in out of County schools, due to a lack of places.

The current provision at Howard House is recognised as high quality with the applicant having positive relationships with numerous Local Authorities.  Following the de-registration of the Care Home, our clients wished to improve the educational provision at Howard House School. This retrospective planning approval seeks to regularise the use of the property as a school.
